SANITARY PADS & MENTORSHIP PROGRAM LAUNCHES
Centurion, Gauteng — Three Fingers Crossed, a youth development organization dedicated to creating safe and inclusive spaces for young people, has announced an ambitious campaign to collect 4,000 sanitary pads for schoolgirls in need, set to launch on 20 August 2026.
The partnership with EduPlusTutor.co.za will see mentors working directly with schoolgirls, offering academic support, life skills coaching, and career guidance. This holistic approach aligns with Three Fingers Crossed's core mission of promoting youth development through education, empowerment, and emotional well-being.
"Every girl deserves the dignity of staying in school and pursuing her dreams without interruption," said Secretary-General Tshepo. "Period poverty is not just a health issue—it is an education issue, a gender equality issue, and a human dignity issue. Through this campaign, we are providing not only sanitary products but also mentorship to ensure these young women have the guidance and support they need to succeed."
According to the organization, many schoolgirls from disadvantaged backgrounds miss up to five days of school each month due to lack of access to sanitary products, falling behind in their studies and risking dropping out entirely. The 4,000-pad target is expected to support hundreds of girls across local schools for multiple menstrual cycles.
"We are calling on businesses, foundations, and community members to join us in this effort," Tshepo added. "Whether you donate pads, contribute financially, volunteer your time, or partner with us to mentor a young person—every contribution helps us ensure that no girl has to choose between her dignity and her education."
